Drawing & Watercolor on Location with Artist Peter Cusack In-Person
Join artist Peter Cusack for pencil and watercolor sketching en plein air (or in the library's Reading Room, in off weather). All supplies will be provided.
Choose your subject, observe, and sketch to capture a sense of place, time, subject, story, and ambience. Each week, Peter will focus on one or more specific techniques such as perspective, shading, cross hatching, blending, tonal scribbles, and gesture drawing, as well as watercolor techniques.
The workshop meets from 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM on three Thursdays: May 29th and June 5th, and June 12th.
Peter welcomes anyone -- from beginner to accomplished artist -- looking to improve their skills, try new methods, and enjoy the quiet, focused company of others while sketching en plein air.
Peter Cusack is an artist, art instructor, editor, and curator. He holds degrees from Syracuse University and Ecole Albert Dufois in France. His work is included in the permanent collections of the Museum of American Illustration, the New York Transit Museum, and the United States Air Force. His work has also appeared in Architectural Digest, An Illustrated Life, and Drawing Inspiration: Visual Artists at Work. Peter is the founder of COCOA: The Journal of Cornwall Contemporary Art. He lives in West Cornwall and teaches in New York City.
Seating and supplies (paper, pencils, and a watercolor palette) will be provided. You are also welcome to bring your own chair and/or supplies.
