Open Reception: Housatonic Camera Club Photography Exhibition In-Person
Join us to celebrate the Scoville Library’s first Housatonic Camera Club Exhibition. See the show and learn about this local club that has been going strong for nearly 75 years.
Open Reception: Friday, March 14th, 5:00 – 6:30 PM
Exhibition continues March 7th through April 18th
The exhibition theme, Local: Illuminating Place and Community, invited HCC members to submit photos capturing the spirit or character of a place or community in the area where they live. The show features gorgeous photography illuminating both little-known and familiar scenes in the Northwest corner and beyond.
The Housatonic Camera Club
Founded in 1956, the Housatonic Camera Club (HCC) is comprised of photographers of all levels, mostly from the tri-state area, who meet monthly to share their love of photography as well as their experience, travels, and expertise with one another and the public. In addition to meetings, the Club also offers programs that are open to the general public, including exhibits, slide shows, field trips, and a range of workshops from basic photography to cutting edge technology and techniques.
As part of the New England Camera Club Council (NECCC) and Photographic Society of America (PSA), HCC holds thrice-yearly competitions among its membership. Those chosen to go on to the next level of competition are entered in New England region (NECCC) and international (PSA) inter-club competitions.
HCC was founded by Sharon resident Edward W. Hutchinson, a journalist, teacher, and photographer who exhibited in the 1964/65 New York World’s Fair at the Eastman Kodak Pavillion.
Housatonic Camera Club Meetings and Membership
HCC meets on the third Tuesday of the month from September through June at Noble Horizons in Salisbury, CT. If you’re interested in learning more, please contact HCC Webmaster Lazlo Gyorsok, lazlogyorsok6@gmail.com or visit HCC's website at http://www.housatoniccameraclub.com/.
