Classical Guitar Class with Matthew Pearson

Classical Guitar Class with Matthew Pearson In-Person

Please note: The October - December 2024 class is full. If you would like to hear about a possible Classical Guitar Class in Spring 2025, please write to scovilleadultprograms@gmail.com.

Start your classical guitar journey in this small group lesson series with instructor Matthew Pearson. This series is for absolute beginners and is open to adults and to young adults (ages 16 and up).

The class meets for eight Wednesdays, October 9th through December 4th (no meeting on November 27th), in person only, from 5:30 to 6:45 PM.

You’ll learn the fundamentals of the instrument, the strings, notes, and righthand finger patterns and techniques. Students will be able to progress at their own pace, and we will support each other in developing our skills. Please be prepared to commit to regular practice. It will make a big difference in your progress!

Matthew Pearson is an experienced amateur classical guitarist and has taught large group classes at a high school in Manhattan. He started classical guitar at age nine and still treasures his first classical guitar, made by Rokutaro Nakade. He is a retired banker and a Salisbury resident.

Class size is limited and registration is required. The library has four Cordoba C3M classical guitars (purchased locally at the Music Shop in Torrington) to loan to four class members for the 8-week series. We also have space for two more beginners who can come with their own classical guitars.

If the class is full, and you'd like to join the waitlist in case space opens up, please use the link below.

If you’d like to join the class and can bring your own classical guitar, please send an email to scovilleadultrprograms@biblio.org.

This series is made possible by the generous support of the Friends of the Scoville Library.
