Learn about wild apples with pomologist Matt Kaminsky (AKA Gnarly Pippins), an arborist, wild apple expert and advocate, grafter, grower, orchard tender, the founder of The Wild and Seedling Pomological Exhibition, and the author of the Pomological Series (three volumes).
Discover the vast variety of little-known wild, uncultivated, and seedling apples and pears growing in our area. Learn about outstanding apple varieties, the process of grafting, and old and new traditions of apple growing. Get expert guidance on apple foraging so that you can discover wild apples on your own.
Registration is requested. For more information and to register, please use the link below.
If you have or know of a wild or rare apple tree, growing in the area, please feel free to bring photos and — if picking is permissible—a fruit or two.
