Songwriting Workshop with Natalia Zukerman

Songwriting Workshop with Natalia Zukerman In-Person

Learn how to write your own song with singer songwriter Natalia Zukerman!

No prior writing or musical experience needed. This creative process works for all levels.

In two sessions (Thursdays July 25th and August 1st), Natalia will guide us through the process of songwriting. We’ll use brainstorming techniques to write lyrics, create our own melodies by listening to the natural pitch and rhythm of speech, and develop classic song parts including verse, chorus, and bridge.

On Wednesday, August 14th, we'll meet from 5:30-6:30 PM in the library to perform our songs for one another. Songwriters can choose whether to perform their own songs or have their songs performed by a professional musician. After our library session, we'll head up to the Egremont Barn for Open Mic Night and a chance to perform before an audience.

Singer songwriter Natalia Zukerman tours internationally as a solo performer. She has recorded eight albums on her own and on Willy Porter’s Weasel Records labels, toured with and/or opened for Janis Ian, Ani DiFranco, Susan Werner, Melissa Ferrick, Glen Phillips, Richard Thompson, Shawn Colvin, and Dar Williams, to name a few. Natalia is a queer, Jewish musician, painter, journalist, educator, cartoonist, trauma-informed yoga and meditation teacher, cultural diplomat, and community organizer. She is currently the conference director of the Northeast Regional Folk Alliance (NERFA), a publisher and illustrator, an editor and cartoonist at The Millerton News and Lakeville Journal, a contributing writer for Acoustic Guitar Magazine, a part-time caregiver for her mom, and a full-time mom to her own dog, Georgie, in Millerton, NY.
